Property Managers and Letting Agents – can we be frank with you?
At A3A Energy, honesty and clarity are at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to providing you with the essential facts to make informed decisions about transitioning to EV.
Whether your residents realise it or not yet, they’ll soon be asking for EV charging facilities. We’re here to ensure you’re prepared ahead of the curve.
Installing EV charging at your properties offers many benefits: convenience, availability, affordability, reliability, itemised billing, and significant environmental benefits, especially in enclosed areas like basements and underground car parks. These benefits drive our commitment at A3A Energy.
While the benefits are clear, there are emerging pressures that mean early action could make all the difference.
Early Birds Get the Worm
As we approach 2030, and the cessation of new petrol and diesel car production – the pressure is on apartment rental and management companies like yours to offer EV charging for their residents will only grow.
If you don’t have the spare capacity for EV charging, you might find yourself needing a power upgrade from SSEN, which in turn could put pressure on the national grid.
Being an early adopter means more chance of securing grants and avoiding grid upgrade headaches.
Grant and funding opportunities
The great news is that there are a number of generous government grants available to make the transition more affordable for you.
But remember, the grants may be withdrawn next year— so it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
The EV Chargepoint Grant for Landlords offers:
You can get either £350 or 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, whichever amount is lower.
Each financial year, you can get up to:
- 200 grants for residential properties
- 100 grants for commercial properties
The EV Infrastructure Grant for Landlords offers:
You can get up to £30,000 or 75% off the cost of the work. The amount depends on how many parking spaces the work covers.
You can get up to 30 infrastructure grants each financial year.
The Workplace Charging Scheme for Small Accommodation Businesses offers:
The scheme covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points (including VAT), capped at a maximum of:
- £350 per socket
- 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you want to install them at 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site
